Granite Memorial Plaques and Tablets
Granite is a very hard stone which looks amazing when highly polished. It is perfect for long lasting memorial tablets.
We have a range of 10mm black granite tablets with polished tops and sides. These are ideal when the larger memorials would not be appropriate. They can also be used with wrought iron tree stake. These have a metal fixing plate plus one or two spikes depending on size.
The text is normally deep engraved and paint filled. However where the is a larger amount impact engraving or laser engraving is possible. Our designer will advise.
The small 100mm granite can be used in combination with other materials. For example an engraved granite photo could be used in a slate or wood memorial tablet.

The prices shown are for the memorial with 25 deep engraved and painted letters or characters, with extra letters costing 55p per letter

The Lettering
We can engrave the lettering in a variety of fonts - click here.
For small lettering down to 12mm it is best to choose simple fonts such as Bookman Old Style, Eurostyle, Goudy Old Style and Gill Sans. The best font is Arial which can be deep engraved as small as 10mm. (Approx 13 letters per 100mm)
Lots of choice with paint colours with black, white, gold and silver being the most popular. We can paint the lettering or indeed the images in more than one colours. Cost £15 per extra colour.

Very Small Lettering
For very small lettering, we can use the impact engraver. This method isn’t as crisp or defined as deep engraving, but it’s a useful option when the plaque can’t be made any larger.
In the Terry Stuart example, “Terry Stuart Dawson ‘The Legend’” was deep engraved for maximum clarity, while the remaining text was completed with impact engraving.

Photos Onto Granite
Photos can be engraved directly onto our polished black granite memorials using our specialist impact engraving process. This creates a permanent, detailed image within the surface of the granite itself. For the best results, we recommend using a clear, high quality photograph with good contrast between light and dark areas.
In general, the better the original photo, the more detail and definition can be achieved in the finished engraving.
The cost for adding a photo directly onto the granite is £36.00. If there are no words on the granite this is discounted to £26.00.
Other Images
We can include images on the memorials and memorial plaques. For images which are to be sand-blasted and painted choose bold images - we can't sand-blast very fine lines. For small or detailed images we can use the impact engraver which is a revolutionary technique using a diamond tipped needle to hit the granite and create the image. The engraving is not deep but can still be painted black, white, silver or gold. Another option is to sandblast out a panel, paint it and then laser etch the detail. This method works very well for crests and badges.

What are small granite memorials used for?
Small granite memorials are often used as grave markers, cremation memorials, garden memorials or remembrance plaques. Their compact size makes them suitable for many locations while still providing space for personalised wording and designs.
Are the granite memorials suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. Granite is an extremely durable natural stone that is ideal for outdoor memorials. It is weather resistant, long lasting and requires very little maintenance.
Can photos be engraved onto the granite?
Yes. Photos can be engraved directly onto polished black granite using our specialist impact engraving process. Clear, high quality photographs with good contrast give the best results.
Can I add personalised wording to the memorial?
Yes. All of our granite memorials can be personalised with names, dates, verses or special messages. Different fonts and layouts are available to suit the design.
What colours are available for the lettering?
Gold and silver are the most popular lettering colours for black granite memorials, although other finishes may also be available on request.
Do the memorials come with fixing options?
Yes. Depending on the memorial style, fixing options may include ground fixing, hidden studs or adhesive fixing methods. We can advise on the best option for your installation.
Can small granite memorials be made to custom sizes?
Yes. In addition to standard sizes, many granite memorials can be produced to custom dimensions to suit your requirements.
How do I clean a granite memorial?
Granite memorials are easy to maintain. Normally, warm water and a soft cloth are all that is needed to keep the polished surface clean.
