What are your wooden shields used for?

Our wooden shields are designed primarily for indoor use and are commonly used as taxidermy trophy shields for mounting deer, boar and other game trophies. They are also popular as presentation shields, perpetual award plaques, commemorative displays, military awards and sporting trophies. If you require a shield for outdoor use, please let us know and we can recommend a more suitable material or finish.

What woods are your shields made from?

Our wooden shields are manufactured from carefully selected quality timbers, depending on the style chosen. Each shield is smoothly finished and ready for mounting, engraving or adding an engraved plaque.

Can I order plain wooden shields?

Yes. Many customers purchase our shields plain so they can mount trophies or add their own plaques. We also offer laser engraving and a range of personalisation options if you would like us to complete the shield for you.

Can you engrave names, dates or messages onto the shield?

Yes. We can laser engrave names, dates, locations, species, club names or any other wording directly onto the front or back of the shield. Up to 50 engraved characters costs just £19.95.

Can you engrave images or logos?

Yes. We can engrave one of our standard images or work from your own artwork, logo or design. Customer-supplied artwork suitable for laser engraving starts from £36, depending on the amount of artwork preparation required.

Can I have a family crest or club badge engraved?

In many cases, yes. We can laser engrave family crests, club badges, business logos and many other designs. If your artwork is not already suitable for engraving, we can usually prepare it for you.

Do you supply engraved plaques for wooden shields?

Yes. We can supply engraved brass, stainless steel, anodised aluminium or acrylic plaques to complement your wooden shield. These can include names, dates, locations, species or any other inscription.

Are the shields supplied with fixing holes?

Most wooden shields are supplied without fixing holes so you can position them exactly where required for your trophy or display. If you require holes or other machining, simply let us know when ordering.

Can you make wooden shields in custom sizes or shapes?

Yes. As manufacturers, we can often produce bespoke wooden shields in different sizes or even custom shapes for larger trophies, presentations or special commissions. Please contact us for a quotation.

Are your shields suitable for professional taxidermy?

Yes. Our wooden shields are widely used by professional taxidermists, gamekeepers, shooting estates and countryside organisations for mounting deer antlers, boar tusks and other trophies.

Are your wooden shields made in the UK?

Yes. All of our wooden shields are manufactured in our North Devon workshops by our experienced craftsmen using quality materials and traditional woodworking techniques.
