Post Planting Depths
All builders, good or bad will have a preconceived idea of how far underground a post should go. Indeed as there are so many variables, there is no substitute for experience. However the chart opposite is a good starting point. We would suggest with heavy oak posts with arms to go a little deeper. It does also depend on soil type.

Although posts can be buried or concreted into the ground we do advise customers to use one of the post holder methods as shown below. Not only will the posts last longer but the signs can be removed for easy maintenance. |
