What is a hanging post and arm used for?
A hanging post and arm is designed to support a hanging sign or projecting sign. They are commonly used for business signage, house signs, farm signs, pub signs and entrance signage where the sign needs to stand out clearly.

What types of hanging posts do you offer?
We offer both metal hanging posts and wooden hanging posts with arms. Options include blacksmith-made steel posts, oak posts, iroko hardwood posts, painted hardwood posts and our exclusive curved Exmoor post design.

What is the Exmoor Post and Arm?
The Exmoor Post and Arm is a premium laminated oak hanging post created using traditional carpentry techniques. Thin layers of oak are carefully bent and laminated together to create a distinctive curved arm design.

Are the metal posts weatherproof?
Yes. Our steel hanging posts are galvanised and painted black as standard to help protect against rust and weathering. They are designed for long-term outdoor use.

Can wooden hanging posts be painted?
Yes. Painted hardwood posts are available in standard colours such as black, white and grey, along with other paint colours on request. Natural oak and iroko options are also available with protective finishes.

What timber options are available for wooden posts?
We offer oak, iroko, sapele hardwood and rustic tanalised softwood depending on the style and budget required. Oak and iroko are popular for their durability and natural appearance.

What finishes are available for oak posts?
Oak posts can be treated with satin varnish, black wood preservative or Osmo Oil depending on the appearance you prefer and the level of maintenance required.

Can you make bespoke sizes and designs?
Yes. Many of our hanging posts and arms are made in our own workshops or by our blacksmith, so bespoke sizes, shapes and designs can often be created to suit your project.

What size signs can be used with the posts?
Most of our hanging posts and arms are suitable for signs up to 600mm wide. If you require a larger or heavier sign, we can usually recommend or make a stronger post and arm to suit.

Do the posts include fittings?
Yes. Standard stainless steel fittings are usually supplied, including eyeplates and quick links. Black wrought iron hooks and rings are also available as an upgrade.

Can hanging posts be used with double-sided signs?
Yes. Hanging posts and arms are ideal for double-sided signs, allowing the sign to be seen clearly from both directions.

How tall are the hanging posts?
Most standard hanging posts are available in either 8ft (2.4m) or 9ft (2.7m) heights, although custom sizes can also be made.

Do you make the posts yourselves?
Yes. Our wooden posts are made by our carpenters and many of the metal hanging posts are produced by our blacksmith.

Are hanging posts suitable for businesses and homes?
Yes. Our hanging posts and arms are suitable for shops, pubs, cafés, farms, holiday cottages, businesses and residential properties. They can be paired with a wide range of hanging signs and projecting signs.

Can I order a post without a sign?
Yes. We can supply the post and arm on its own. If ordering without a sign, it is helpful to tell us the arm length required.
