Natural Slate House Signs and Name Plates

Our slate house signs are made with natural grey slate with smooth, but not highly polished surface. This shows the markings and grain of this lovely material - each piece is different.  If you prefer a uniform appearance with any markings click here for slate corian
For the standard size slate house signs we use slate between 10mm and 15mm thick.

SIZES
The standard size slate house signs have heights of 75mm (inches), 100mm (4 inches), 150mm (6 inches) and 225mm (9 inches) The length is determined by the number of letters.

LETTERS
The letters are normally painted silver, gold or white. However we occasionally use ivory, black, crimson, purple, dark green, lime green, pearlescent green, dark blue, mid blue or pearlescent blue. We can also blast the background away leaving the letters raised and unpainted. When leaving letters raised we must use bold fonts without any fine line. For a selection of fonts - CLICK HERE Letter size is not fixed and is normally adjusted to suit the sign. If you have something particular in mind - just let us know.

Prices

IMAGES We can include simple images on the signs. We have a selection CLICK HERE - or you can send in your own artwork - It must be a silhouette style image without any very fine lines or shades. The cost is £3.75 per standard image, £9.75 for vector artwork or £17.50 for a jpg or other bitmap image.   BORDERS We can add a line border with indented or square corners at a cost of £5.95. Another interesting technique is the border in relief where the slate around the outside of the sign is blasted away leaving the required shape in the middle. The cost of a border in relief is £8.95.  When the letters are raised and unpainted there is no extra cost for surrounding or line borders.

HOLES It is difficult to drill holes into slate as it requires plenty of water to keep the slate cool. We can drill the holes for you @ £1.10 per hole. We would suggest 2 holes on the 100mm high slate and 4 holes on larger slates. If you do decide to use one of the many adhesives now available we would suggest additional support is used, particularly for the larger signs.
