Words for your Memorial Plaque

It can be so difficult to find the words to use on a memorial plaque, so we have listed below a selection of inscriptions and remembrance poems which our customers have used on their memorials. We hope these inscriptions, will help you to put your thoughts and feelings, into the words for your plaque. We also have inspiration quotes which may also be useful.

I will always miss you
With every passing day
The longing just to see you
Will never go away.
'I play the notes as they are written,
but it is God who makes the music.'
Its lonely now without you
We miss you more each day
For life is not the same to us
Since you were called away.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still,
In our hearts you hold a place,
that no one could ever fill.

The only way to live, is to accept each minute
as it really is - an unrepeatable miracle
Our lives will be given meaning and purpose
by the way they are lived
- not by going on for ever and ever
A Lifetime Together A Short While Apart
Together Once More And Never To Part

Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard but always near,
Still loved, still missed and with us here.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still,
In our hearts you hold a place,
that no one could ever fill.
"If tears could make a staircase
and heartaches make a lane
We'd walk the path to heaven
And bring you home again"
"I miss you loads
My life is Sad
I love you loads
my dear ole Dad"

Our hearts are broken, but the beautiful memories will never disappear.
We thank you for all the love, support and wisdom you showed to us.
You can now sleep peacefully with no more pain and distress.
Dad we will love and cherish you forever.

We have so many wonderful memories of the times we shared together.
You cared for us all so much and were always there to help.
You taught us well, and told us to look to the future,
but most of all to be happy.
We love and miss you terribly,
but you will always have a special place in our hearts and minds.
Wooden Memorial Plaque with Lovely Inscription

"The pain will never go away
My heart aches with sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one will ever know"
When tomorrow starts without me,
Don’t think we’re far apart
For every time you think of me,
I’m right there in your hear
t
Those we love don't go away
They sit beside us every day
Unseen, unheard, but always near
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Come rain or shine
I will be right here
Sitting with you

My Daddy My Hero
This world has many hero's you'd know them most by name, It's apparent that they gave their best and deserve their fame.
But among all of the hero's this world has ever had, there's not one that I admire more and that's my precious dad.
He was more than just a hero, he never looked for praise, he was heroic in his quiet strength and his caring ways.
He may not have been famous as those you hear about or see, but he was everything and so much more a hero ought to be.
He kept his word, it's was as good as gold on this you could depend, and I'm proud to call him my daddy and my best friend.
When I hear about a hero and the special things they've done, it reminds me of my dad for he was the greatest one.

Dad you were my inspiration and guided me through life.
You were a tower of strength especially if times got tough.
You are gone now Dad, but will never ever be forgotten.
One day we will meet again, I promise you.
Don't Cry Because It's Over
Smile Because It Happened
In Memory of a good Friend
"Now and then it's good to pause in our
pursuit of happiness and just be happy."

Memorial plaque inscription Gone Is The Face We Loved So Dear
Silent The Voice We Loved To Hear

When someone you love becomes a memory,
the memory becomes a treasure

God gave a treasure for a while,
to fill us with his love,
and then he took our darling Child,
to dwell with him above

An Angel from the Book of Life
Wrote down my baby's birth,
And whispered as she closed the book
"Too Beautiful for Earth"

To the world you are one person,
but to one person you mean the world
Those We Love Don't Go Away
They Walk Beside Us Every Day
A life that touches others goes on forever

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.
Though your smile is gone forever
And your hand we cannot touch
Still we have so many memories
Of the ones we loved so much
Your memory is our keepsake
With which we'll never part
God has you in his keeping
And we have you in our hearts.

Always In Our Thoughts
Forever In Our Hearts

Dearly Loved And Sadly Missed
You can shed tears that he is gone-
Or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back-
Or you can open your eyes and see what he has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him-
Or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live for the past-
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him only that he is gone-
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
Be empty and turn your back-
Or you can do what he would want;
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Too Good In Life To Be Forgotten In Death Gone From Our Home
But Not From Our Hearts
Too dearly loved to be forgotten

Format for wording and dates on memorial plaques

The following suggestions are old school etiquette or tradition, but does not have to be adhered to - our customers can always have their memorial plaque made just the way they want.

Traditionally the husband is on the left and wife on the right, that is when viewing from the foot of the graves

When it comes to dates you can write them either 12/02/16 or 12-02-16, but we recommend / as it flows better when designing.

The inbetween 'dash' between dates is called an En-Dash and the code is Alt-0150
Dash = -
En-Dash = –

The En-dash shows that they where alive between those dates, a dash would imply they where alive for only those two days. Regrettably not all fonts have the En-dash.

Don't worry too much about all this as our designers can always sort it out for you but we thought it might be helpful.

Another Random Fact!

If you are inviting someone formally its the husband names first but if its informal its the wife

– Formally: Mr. & Mrs. John Doe
– Informally: Jane and John Doe

Apparently you can never break apart the husbands name.
